So, yesterday I went and rented a storage unit! This has been a great stress relief for me, at least now I have someplace to put things. My little bungalow is bursting at the seams, so I need to get organized! I have bought myself a little time to figure out what to get rid of, what I want to keep, and how I can get things (my house) in order. I think I am one of those people that needs a deadline to get my butt in gear!
I will not be a the Market this weekend- I'm taking a wee break...

My days at the Gallerage are numbered. I have to be out by the end of the month. I am starting to feel VERY anxious about my move and closing. I would really appreciate it if all my fabulous artists could get in touch with me and let me know when you will be picking up your work- sometime in the next couple of weeks would be good. I have so much to do, it is starting to FREAK ME OUT a little!
On top of that, Wilson is almost finished with third grade, and Don has a business trip coming up-
Where am I going to put all this stuff? This morning everything is hitting me! I have a very busy couple of weeks ahead of me!

I have had a great time this morning, putting it all aside and baking! Wilson's class is having a bake sale tomorrow (Saturday) morning at the Groton Bank. The class is trying to raise cash for a field trip they want to take. I hope my offerings will help. I made Lemon Wafers, Chocolate Cashew Chunk Cookies, and my award winning Pumpkin Apple Spice Muffins.

I have started to plan for my final days... The Gallerage's final days that is! Anybody need a huge, heavy, glass case? I look around and think: It took me a year to make this mess, now I have to clean it up in a month! Actually it is not a mess, just full- it does not look like I'm closing down at all. I still have lots of wonderful items for sale, and I plan on selling until I lock the doors at the end of June. So, stop by and check things out, I LOVE talking to people. Who knows, maybe something will catch your fancy!

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about my future with the gallery. I have decided with a heavy heart to close up shop. I am at a place where I want to concentrate on my own artwork, and not be bogged down with all the other activities of running a store front. This decision is not an easy one- I love my shop. I will be running things as usual until the end of June. After that, you can find me, and a lot of the local artists I represent at the Ithaca Farmers' Market. I want to say THANKS to all my fabulous artisans that have stuck by me even when sales were less than great! I also want to say THANKS to Jodi who gave me a location and freedom to do "my thing" with the space. I have enjoyed working next to you. So, there it is, in writing. Now on with future plans...

Yesterday was warm enough to open the the Garage door and let in the sun and fresh air! It was wonderful to be able to take in the energy from Main St. again! I feel like I have been living in a cave all winter. Wilson was drawing on the pavement with chalk, people were having coffee on the porch, and it really felt like SPRING!

Spring Cleaning with Balance

This one day class is all about bringing pure essential oils into your life at a time of the year that we are all emerging from winter and looking towards spring and new days.

We will focus on the adrenal glands and what pure essential oils help them gear us up for spring thaw. Along with the adrenals we will also discuss the effect of certain essential oils on other parts of the body and how and why they should be a part of our daily use at this time of year.

The class is three hours long and is broken up into 60 minute intervals with the beginning hour being about pure essential oils and the need for them in our life. We will also go over essential oil purity, safety and usage.

The second hour will be spent blending oils for a specific use. You will have the choice of making a spritzers, massage & body oils or hand/body wash which you will take with you for use at home.

The third hour will focus on how, why and where you should use this product and other products to ensure your health and well being in the coming months. There will also be time for questions and discussions during the last hour.

There will be 10 minute breaks through out the day.

These classes will be Monday afternoons 3:30-5:30. We will be doing a wide variety of projects like silk painting, mosaics, ceramic painting, collage, and more. Please let me know if you would like to sign up for the Art After School, classes are designed for ages 7-12. Whole foods!

Ok, here I am mid week 2 of this whole foods, vegetarian eating regime. I have discovered a few things: there is A LOT of chewing, a Lot of prep time, and salt is a must! Also it can be a bit expensive, but all food is expensive these days. Anyway, I like to cook so it has been fun to experiment with with new flavors, grains, and ways of doing things. The best part of all is, I have lost 3 pounds- must be all those calories I am burning from the chewing!
Time to pack up for the gallerage, I am working on a fabulous lamp shade...

I had my yearly Doctor's appointment this past Monday. As usual the topic of losing weight came up. My Doc, who is very "new age" and alternative when possible, prescribed a book! It is called The China Study, written by T. Colin Campbell- a former Cornell Prof. It is a fascinating read- I highly recommend it. After reading the intro I was all about a "whole food diet" with only 5% animal protein! In my head, this is a doable idea. In my kitchen it is a bit harder to fathom. My plan is to do 2 days a week vegan- that seems to be manageable. So I have the wheat berries simmering on the stove for my salad for lunch, and the whole wheat veggie lasagna ready for dinner- (made with soy cheese). I did really enjoy the Irish oatmeal for breakfast, although Wilson wanted a few mini chocolate chips sprinkled on it before he would eat it. I guess I can't expect him to be as excited about this new healthier way of eating over night. Time to go chop some vegetables, soy milk anyone?

It has been a slow week! I have had Wilson to keep me company- winter break is no break for a mommy! Keeping him occupied and still getting some work done is always a challenge. I tend to turn to the computer (my version of the "electronic babysitter") when things get rough! That, and he LIKES to shovel- it has been a good week for shoveling.

On a budget!

My husband has put me on a strict budget. Tough times call for creative thinking, and rolling lots of coinage! I have many little receptacles that I dump change in. Over the period of about 5 years a large tray on my dresser has been my favorite. This tray is big and piled high with "spare" change. The need for a dye job and hair cut has forced me to attack my tray! I rolled $158.00! My roots are getting done!
I also found some lost treasure under all that change! Earrings that had gone missing, rubber bands, sewing needles, movie tickets, hair clips, old smarties, chapstick, satin ribbon, receipts, beach glass, lucky stones, clothing tags, buttons, and a number of "important" names and phone numbers of people I don't remember- sorry I didn't call! Anyway- I can get my hair done, and I have some "mad money" left over.

My Wooden Heart!

I was given a bag of these plywood cut-out hearts. They were screaming "Paint Me"! I love them. This one is almost finished and I have 2 more in the works. They are HAPPY HEARTS!
I will be at the Gallerage today hanging some new artwork, and getting a delivery of the most FABULOUS body products! I have been using a sugar scrub by Kash Iraggi for a week now, and I my skin feels incredible- I also smell pretty good! The Balance Aromatherapy products are highly recommended!

I finished this order for champaign flutes- I think the look great. Now the worry begins. I need to pack them up and ship them to Florida. I always worry about glassware getting there in one piece. Almost everything I do is "breakable", but stemware just seems to be a bit more fragile. Lots od bubble wrap and peanuts!

Crazy January Weather!

Salvador was out for about 3 minutes, and he was totally covered in snow! It has been really cold in the Gallerage, and I have been getting a bit grumpy! I worked on the insulation around the big door, but because of the strong winds it has been hard to get in place. I think I have it now. Hopefully it will be warmer today- although it said -7 this morning! I haven't had much traffic this week either, and that doesn't help my mood.
I am looking for artists that would like to participate in a group show- the theme is LOVE (for February) please let me Know (ASAP) if you would like to be a part of this. I need to work fast- it is almost February!

Another new week at the Gallerage. The snow in front of my garage door is gone, so I can finally get out the ladder and take down my holiday lights, and pack them away for next year.

I had lunch with with my husband's group from Cornell on Monday- I was invited to celebrate Don's 20 years at Cornell. It was so funny because as we were walking into the Statler I mentioned how I used to know quite a few people who had worked there, but I didn't think anyone was still there. As soon as I sat down our waiter walked in- It was Marty, who I had worked with at Simeon's back in the 80's! Then as I went into the buffet room, I ran into Kandi, I worked with her in the 90's! I had so much fun running into old friends that I hadn't seen in ages.
Don made the comment, "once a waitress always a waitress"!

I hope I have some people to wait on today at the gallery.

I have had a lot of new artisans stopping by the Gallerage! Yesterday I stocked up my "natural apothecary cabinet" with fabulous potions by Kash Iraggi. Kash is a licensed aroma therapist who creates wonderful products for the body and soul. We have all natural glycerin soaps, salt and sugar scrubs, body butter, lip balm, spritz, bath salts and oils. I have used Kash's products and they are great for "winter skin"-not to mention they smell incredible.
I also have hand crocheted baby & toddler sweaters, ponchos, and blankets by Norma Hahne. these are colorful, washable, comfortable, and very reasonably priced.

I DREAD today! I have to take my dog, Savador to the vet. This is a total "stress out" for both of us. Salvador is a fabulous dog with one exception- he HATES the vet! I have prepared the special meatballs with doggy relax pills, this does help a little, as long as they kick-in in time. The last visit my timing was off and he was a BEAST at the vet and knocked out about an hour after we got home. Pull out the muzzle we are coming! I hope they can get his nails clipped this time...

I have started to put together classes for kids again. I will be offering a class on making your own floor mat. This class will be done in 3 two hour sessions, incorporating printing, painting and collage techniques. Children ages 6-12 will complete a finished 2'x3' fully functional floor mat.
I think I am going to try something new and offer this class (taught by me) as an after school activity. So I will be doing it on either a Monday or Tuesday, dates to be determined. If anyone has thoughts on this, please let me know, I am still in the planning stages- more to come! Input is always helpful!

After the holidays, I always take a couple of weeks off from painting. I tend to paint all the time when I am at home, so it is nice to take a bit of a break to kind of re-group. I am always so excited to get back to it. I have been working on a couple of 2-D pieces on canvas (still a work in progress), and I have been busy with small pieces: knobs, magnets, salt and peps- just to get me warmed up. Then, on to the big stuff!

Hot chocolate for a cold day- or maybe a mocha...

I found this recipe for hot chocolate mix- it is really good! I have changed one thing: I added 1/2 a bag of mini chocolate chips to the mix, and I like to add instant espresso powder to my cup for a yummy mocha. WOW is this good on a cold day.

* 2 cups powdered sugar
* 1 cup cocoa (Dutch-process preferred)
* 2 1/2 cups powdered milk
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 teaspoons cornstarch
* 1 pinch cayenne pepper, or more to taste
* 1 cup HOT water
Mix all ingredients together. Use 1/4 cup of mix to 1 cup hot water.

This hot chocolate (or mocha) is really good in a Gary Rith mug, I just happen to have them on SALE- 50% off! Stop into Thou Art Gallerage for a mug and a sample!

In case you don't know it- we got snow! The Gallerage has been closed for one week and a half. With the heat turned off in there it got really cold! I bought a new heater, and it was warming up in there nicely yesterday. I am back to work today- so stop by if you are around. Time to clean up the Christmas and get on with the new year. Wilson's big Christmas gift was a real chef uniform! He loves it- and has pretty much been wearing it since the 25th. My son has a true love for cooking. When we had a visit to see Santa Claus he asked him for a "wisk" and recipe cards.
The Gallerage will be closed until January 6. I need a bit of a rest after my successful holiday season. My Birthday is Wednesday, and I will be taking advantage of my yearly dinner and a movie date!

The days are going so fast, time seems to be speeding by as I get closer to the Holidays! I have spent the last couple of days dusting, sweeping and rearranging displays. getting ready for incoming merch and festive decorations! At home I have been painting dreidels like crazy. the dreidel song keeps going through my head, although I make them out of wood- not clay. I am trying to remember where I put those christmas lights I bought on clearance last January- gotta find them! I am hoping I will have time to paint today at the gallery, I have orders to get done. I guess I thrive on a full plate.

Here is the complete look. We had a busy weekend of trick or treating! At school Friday they had the costume parade and party, that evening Main St. Groton had the treats, with all the businesses giving out candy- we must have had 400 kids come by! I went through a LOT of candy! Then Saturday morning we went to the party at the Farmers' market for the parade and hay ride. Then last night the neighborhood trick or treating. Wilson LOVES Halloween, he loved going around saying "What's up Doc" too.

Wilson has discovered Bugs Bunny, he LOVES the classic cartoons, and that is what he wanted to be for Halloween this year! I painted a plain white mask, and glued the bunny nose on. Then I couldn't find gray ears,but, I was able to find white ones (Bugs is a gray bunny) so I had to paint those. I have a gray sweat shirt that I will attach a fuzzy white tummy, and a fluffy tail too. Add gray sweat pants, and you have Bugs Bunny! He will also be carrying an Ithaca Farmers' Market bag full of (fake) organic carrots.

Don and Wils are home! They went to our niece's wedding in Baltimore this past weekend. I was very sorry not to be able to go, but I had signed up and paid for the Art Trail before we got the invitation. I really would have LOVED to have been there! Congratulations Lauren and Ian! I heard it was a great party at the Modern Art Museum on the Inner Harbor! My guys enjoyed their "all boy" road trip anyway.
Today I will shopping for soup supplies and whipping up a batch of sausage tortellini soup for tomorrow at Bun Appetit. Then at 2:00 Gary is coming over with new pots! A new supply of Gary Rith pottery will be on display at the Gallerage! I hear he is bringing cows, and much more!

I guess the holiday shopping season has started! I sold a bunch of my "holiday Bobs" yesterday, and I am cooking a couple of more up for today. The Gallerage had a nice turn out for the Art Trail Open House, and today is the last day- stop by and say HI! You can also pick up a brochure with a map and listings for all the other open studios on the Art Trail. It is a fun way to spend a fall afternoon.
I will be unpacking my power miter saw this week. I need to start stocking up on my spindle Santas. Last year for my Birthday I got a saw, and I haven't used it yet. I made a bunch of these little guys last year (cut with a hand miter box) and they were very popular. It will be a lot easier to produce them with a power saw!
Now I have to get set up for the Art Trail, it runs from 11:00-5:00.

The Ithaca Art Trail open studio tours are this weekend. I am on the trail! Stop by 215 Main st. at Thou Art Gallerage! I was busy painting all last week, I got these 2 pieces finished- just in the nick of time! The top photo, large glass bowl, was a special order piece for a farmers' market customer. SHE LOVED IT! The other bowl is large as well, and one of my recycled wooden salad bowls. It will be part of the Art trail members' show at the State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca. Opening night is this Friday from 5-8. If you can, come see the wonderful work by almost all the Art trail members. I always enjoy it when I can make to another gallery's opening!

So, I know I've been very bad about the blog thing! I have had so much other stuff to do, that I just haven't been good about it. I have new work at the gallerage by Annie Zig, also a new show coming up with Alice Muhlback. I have rearranged the shop and waxed the floors. The place looks FABULOUS, and I have had more biz since school started. I am also on the Greater Ithaca Art Trail and we have open studio weekends coming up. I have much to do to get ready for all this, so check back- I haven't deserted the blog, just really busy!

It has been a while since I have checked in. I have been working hard on painting a piece for the Art Trail show at the State of the Art Gallery- I'm getting there. I am also planning the next exhibit for the Gallerage: Alice Muhlback will be showing some of her latest works. Alice is one (I have many) of my favorite artists, her work is fun, thought provoking, and easy to own! The show will be opening at the end of September- I'm still pinning down an exact date.
We also had the first week back to school. Big thing for a new third grader!

The yearly jaunt!

Every year we look forward to attending The Great New York State Fair! Yesterday was the day. It is our way of winding up the Summer, one last day of gluttony, mindless spending, and lots of FUN! We had a great time wearing ourselves out. Wilson LOVES the rides, Don LOVES the food, and I LOVE the animals and the exhibits. The Cornell Solar House was amazing, and The sand sculpture was pretty cool too. How much fun can you pack in one day? Before we left we caught the Skinny German Juggle boy. He is one of the best street performers I have ever seen. Food, thrills, education, and live theater- WOW, what a day!

I survived a natural disaster!

On Saturday we went to my Aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary party. It was at the Canandaigua Yacht Club. It started raining pretty hard, then harder, then all of a sudden it was sideways rain and you couldn't see anything outside through the windows. An alarm went off, but nobody seemed to know what it was, and there was no instruction from the staff at the club. My 93 year old Grandma was sitting in front of a window, and we surrounded her to get her moved (she doesn't move real fast). Don took Wilson on the other side of the room away from the windows, The rain was really loud and absolutely pounding on the windows, and I said "maybe we should go downstairs to the basement". As soon as I said this there was a huge bang, and the rain died down. We could see out the window now, and a Huge tree had fallen right next to us. We went outside. There were several huge chestnut trees all all over the grounds, as we looked to the lake we could see a pile of boats and more strewn across the beach that had been picked up and tossed about. There were a couple that had been tossed out into the lake that were capsized and sinking. We could not believe the damage, and how concentrated it was- a straight line from behind the club house (where we were having our party) to the marina, all the destruction seemed to be a path about 50 yards wide. We later found out the National Weather service said it was a tornado! What are the chances of being smack dab in the middle of a tornado?!! We finished the party- we couldn't get out because of all the downed trees. The electric was out, but the bar was open and there was much to talk about! It was the most interesting anniversary party I have ever been to!

I have been painting my usual best sellers this week getting ready for the Farmers' Market on Sunday. I haven't been in a couple of weeks so I am excited to go and "hawk my wares". It has been a bit of a slow week at the Gallerage, but I have been getting a bit of my own work done, so that's good.

My Lover-Boyce took me out for dinner and a show last night. We scarfed a hot dog 2 minutes before going into the theater! We try to get to at least one show a season at the Merry-Go-Round playhouse at the end of Owasco Lake. Last night we took in one of my favorites- A Chorus Line. I Love this musical. I think I have seen it 3 or 4 times now. I had the original cast recording on vinyl. When I was in High School, I knew every song by heart, and ask my parents they endured many a car ride with me in the back seat singing "Tits and Ass" at the top of my lungs! I used that kind of language only in the name of ART! Great play- see it if you can. I'll be singing all day today!

I have 2 days off in a row! I still have a bit of school shopping to get done, so I will be running some errands with my fabulous assistant Wilson Henry! That means we will probably have to go to McDonald's for lunch- if my assistant is a well behaved young man. Bribes help me get things done!
I don't usually like to paint furniture, but a friend asked me to do a child's chair for him to give as a gift. I couldn't say no! Anahlee's chair is really cute, I hope she likes it!

As long as I keep things simple, I guess I don't mind doing this sort of thing. Just a few more touch-ups and then the poly finish.
Now, on with my weekend!

I am all cleaned up from Olde Home Days, and the place looks great. I am really feeling comfortable in my new space. Don did my monthly bookkeeping, and I think many of my artisans will be surprised with their checks! Business is definitely better being on Main St.
With sales being so good I will not be able to do the Farmers' Market this Sunday- my inventory
is really low- I keep selling stuff!
It was a nice night, but the humidity is back today- what happened to that cold front we were supposed to get? I think I'll bring another fan to the shop today.

My Salvador is looking a bit tired and "wolf- like" after our busy day at the lake. Lots of swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing- it was a great day.
I have many creative outlets. I am a painter, but every now and then I like to do something different. My "baubles" have been selling very well at the shop, so I thought I would show a sample of new pieces.

Yesterday I took Wilson school shopping, while I was at the mall, I had to stop in at AC Moore. I spent a little cash on beads! It is a bad habit to get into!
Now, Back to painting today!

The big day has come and gone! Groton's Summer Celebration, aka Olde Home Days was HOT, and I mean HOT! I was wearing a towel around my neck filled with ice to try and stay cool. We had a lot of traffic at the new Gallerage, but I think it was a bit uncomfortable to stand in the sun and do my giant "Paint by Numbers." I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, maybe I'll save it for next year and we can finish it then!
Dino DiArtist was a hit, he stayed busy doing caricatures all day. We hope to have him again next year. If you stop in at Bun Appetit take a look at the drawing he did of Jodi and I- pretty funny! Thanks Dino!
We had live music, a pie contest, and the big parade! What a LONG DAY, and I was beat at the end of it.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Gallerage, it was great to see so many people visiting my shop- I love the traffic on Main St.!
Now, on with my regular stuff, I have orders to fill, and lots of painting to keep me busy. I also have to get my web site back in order- I'm working on it. But, today is supposed to be the hottest day of the year, so Wils, Salvador and I are going to go to the lake and have a nice, wet, relaxing day, work starts tomorrow!

It has been a while since I have sat down and checked in! I have been busy getting ready for Olde Home Days. I am glad that it is finally here- this weekend Groton celebrates 75 years of our town's summer festival. I will be judging the photography show on Friday night, and Saturday is my Giant Paint By Numbers community art project. Thanks to my FAB Hubby for helping out with this! I also have an amazing caricature artist coming to do portraits under the tent in front of the Gallerage. If you are around on Saturday make sure you check out Dino DiArtist- he is really good at what he does!
It is supposed to be a beautiful day (for a change) HOT & SUNNY- and we will be selling ice cold bottled water to help keep people hydrated. There is much going on including the parade at 6:00, this is the biggest day of the year in our little town!
I have also been painting- yes, I do have some new pieces!

When I Dream...

When I have dreams at night, it is usually during a time when I am very busy with projects. I have been incredibly busy lately! My dream is: I am a waitress, and I never seem to catch up with food service, coffee refills, clean up, I just can't make my customers happy! I am running around all night, trying to serve an unrecognizable crowd of people. I wake up exhausted thinking about all I have to do, and feeling like I have taken too much on- once again! Hopefully after next weekend I will be able to take a deep breath and feel like it was worth it.
I will be doing a giant paint by numbers community art project for Olde Home Days- It's called
Paint a Postcard From Groton! Hopefully I will be able to pull this off!

It has taken me a lot of hours to figure out how to do this outline, and I still have to do the numbering! I know they have programs to do the work, but they don't run on a Mac. So I have done it by trial and error, and a lot of time!
I also have Dino DiArtist coming to the Gallerage on Saturday August 15th to do caricatures for Olde Home Days. Dino used to do the Ithaca Farmers' Market with me, and he is REALLY GOOD!

Dino will be here from 11:00- 4:00 Saturday August 15, come and have your caricature done by a true artist!
Okay- now I have to try to get my web site back in order...

I was not able to make it to the Farmers' Market this past Sunday. I have been too busy finishing up with moving anything else I had at the church. One more piece of furniture, and I'm totally done! I just need to round up a vehicle that my Grandmother's buffet can fit into.
I have been painting and hopefully my display will be somewhat plentiful at the market next week! I have been working on switch plates, heart magnets, necklaces, a soap pump salt & peps, and more.
I was able to take a break yesterday to celebrate Don's birthday, we went to see G-force in 3D! Not Don's first pick, but it was Wilson's! It was pretty entertaining for a kid's movie.

the dust has settled!

Okay, I am able to breathe now, the Gallerage is open, it looks good, things have a place, and the dust has settled. I am happy with it. I actually took my paints down yesterday and did some painting. It felt good to just be in the space without having to rush around and apologize for the chaos. This weekend is Alumni Weekend in Groton, hopefully I will get a little biz from the alums!

It is called the National Geographic Green effect- They developed the Green classroom party kits! have a look at the product they developed- what a great idea. Jed is the little blond guy. Early in the week, the weather looked like it was going to be stinky for my opening. This morning on the news there is a little sun icon behind the clouds and lightning bolt! Still hoping for a nice evening tomorrow- think positive! My space is small, so I want to be able to make use of the outside too. Ralph and Robert will be under a tent serving up Ralph's Rib dinners, and my couch and chairs need to be out in front to open the space inside- please no storms tomorrow!
Reagen's show is hung, it looks incredible against the yellow/green wall! I still have a couple of boxes to unload, and I have to figure out where I put all my serving items, bowls ladle, punch bowl, wine opener, more bowls, cheese board and knives. I know I will be rushing around trying to find all this stuff. Also I need to get coffee cups and cocktail napkins. I guess this is my "to do"
list! I better get doing!

Reagen is a fab gal, and her art work is beautiful! Reagen also teaches the kid's (and adult) classes at Thou Art. Come meet her Friday at the first show in my new location.

My location is FAB! I am in the same building as Bun Appetit Bakery- It should be called "YUM Appetit" because everything is delicious! Come to my opening Friday night and sample some of Jodi's sweets- she is doing a cookie tray for the party. I think I have officially tried everything at this point- my favorites? The Black & Whites (half moons), blue cheese bread, and cinnamon buns! I think our businesses are a good fit together. You can have a cup of coffee, a treat, and do a little shopping!

This is it! This Friday is my Grand Opening! All my work is coming to fruition! I was open a couple of days last week, but this will be my first full week open, with my "grand celebration" on Friday. I am very excited, but there is (as always) still much to do.
My brother is off to Ca. today- heading home after his vacation at the lake. We spent the day with the Family yesterday. It was a bit chilly, but the company was warm, and we ate steamed clams! YUM!!! Wils LOVES spending time with his cousins and being one of the boys! It is NEVER too cold to go swimming!

That is right, I am officially open- my sign is up and the flag is flying! There are still some boxes around waiting to be unpacked, and I am still getting "organized", but I AM OPEN! Now I have to get the web site updated and my artisans to bring me more product- I am going to be a lot busier in this new location!

Don was in DC this week with my computer- I'm glad they are both home! Wilson has been at "Camp Grandma & Grampa" spending time on the lake with his cousins from Ca. I have been trying to get the rest of my accumulation out of the church- I didn't realize how much stuff I had dumped there! My stress level has been a bit high, mainly because I haven't been able to open the gallerage as of yet. I wish I was a minimalist instead of a clutter junkie! When I was a kid, my Grandmother gave me this little sign that said "creative minds are rarely tidy!" Boy was that right! I need to put my creative mind to work, and figure out what to do with all this stuff!

We have had a lot of rain this week! It is gloomy and wet! I was hoping for a nice day tomorrow for the annual fire works here in Groton, but it looks like rain/thunderstorms for that too. My little town does a great 4th of July show at the elementary school, the whole town looks forward to it every year! We all hike (or drive) up to the school and congregate on the sports fields. They do a spectacular show that lasts about 1/2 hour! Hopefully the weather will be okay tomorrow evening.
My brother is in town! He lives in Ca. and I only see him and his family once a year. He got in late last night, so we will be going to the cottage for dinner tonight. Mom and Dad are excited to have the whole family under one roof! Wilson is REALLY excited about spending time with his cousins Emerson and Jed! They will be here for the month of July!

Still much work to do, but little by little I'm getting the Gallerage in shape. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? YES!

I have been so busy unpacking boxes and moving things little by little, that I haven't been able to take any photos myself. I hope Gary doesn't mind I lifted these from his blog! I am not officially open, but I'm not about to turn anyone away- I have actually been selling out of boxes for the past 3 days! Just the fact that people are willing to go through a box is a pretty good indication that I will have some business! I can't wait to get this show on the road!

It was so nice at the market yesterday. A good crowd, and it was great to get out and visit with friends. I sold all my single switch plates in the first hour- I was wishing I had about 10 more! They are on my "to paint" list for this week.
My move is getting there, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the boxes that need to be unpacked and I still have stuff to deal with at the church. My mom is coming over today to help with some of that. I also need to figure out some kind of storage solution for other items. It is pretty tough going from 2030 square feet to 460 square feet! I do LOVE my new shop, it is really a reflection of me, and what I do. I am very comfortable there. The space makes me smile!

My house smells like dog! I hate that, and the temp is supposed to reach in the 90's today. That will only make it like I have 5 dogs! I can't wait till we can take Salvador to the lake and give him a bath. My beautiful boy is very temperamental about being groomed (having his nails cut and going to the vet)! HE FREAKS OUT! But, He likes the lake.
It seems I have been working for weeks and there is just more and more to do! I keep trudging along a bit at a time. I hope to be open next week. I think I will also be doing the Ithaca Market this Sunday- just because I need something to do, like make some CASH!

The last day of school!

Today is the last day of school for Wils! He is very excited about summer vacation! I wish I shared his enthusiasm, but I have to admit, I would like a couple more weeks. I have so much left to do and it can be tough with my "assistant" tagging along. Usually he is very helpful, but it's those bursts of uncontrollable energy can be distracting, normal for a 7 year old on vacation!
The new shop is really coming together, I still have a HUGE amount of work to do. A bit more moving, unpacking, displaying... and the list goes on!

Now the REAL work begins!

I am trying to move from one really HUGE space to a really SMALL (but too groovy) space. My problem is obvious- WHERE DO I PUT IT ALL??? I will be at the new space this morning trying to figure out creative placement for everything. This afternoon I will be working in the old space, trying to get it out! My tiny house is already bursting at the seams- YIKES! I'm off to make it happen!

My Chandelier is hung, and the space is ready! I can start moving in today. I do have touch ups with paint, and little bits to finish up, but the major renovations have been finished. I can't believe this space was a car wash! about a month ago! It really looks good!

The floor is in at the gallerage! It looks incredible! The photo is about 5:30 yesterday, they finished around 9:30 last night! I LOVE A BLACK & WHITE FLOOR! My electric still needs to be finished up today, but that shouldn't be a problem- my lights are working. I will probably move a few things down today, just because I am so anxious. I will be finishing up items as I go the next couple of weeks, but I hope to be open while I'm doing it. I am so pleased with the space- it is really cool!

I love living in a small town! Where else does the local bank put on a free lunch for Customer Appreciation Day? Wilson had a half day of school, so we had a picnic at the bank- complete with a giant hot dog!

My Floor tiles are in the space! They will be going down today! I also have lights, not just the tracks! The wireless is working too, I should be able to start moving in this weekend! I am very excited about things finally coming together, and only one week past schedule- not too bad. I also have a fire door (something I didn't know I needed) and that will be hung today, I think. This has been quite a learning experience and really rewarding to see my vision come together.

I have put the Grand Opening party on the calendar for Friday July 24th. Reagen Troutman will be my first exhibit in the new Gallarage.

The good news is: Tiles are in- they will start going down tonight! The BAD news is: The heavy rain last night shows I have a leak in my roof! Hopefully that will be fixed today too. I guess it is good I found this out before the finished floor was installed. One step forward, and one step back!

I called Lowes yesterday and YELLED at them! My tiles still are not in! Now they are saying Friday- I'm holding my breath on that one. I am hoping I can start moving this weekend sometime. My lights however, are in- I'm going down this morning and flicking my switch!

Today I have my electrical inspection- that will cost me $75.00! I hope all goes well, I don't want to have to pay that more than once! I know you are all sick of hearing about my floor tiles, (Gary), but hopefully they will be going in today. Then we can finish up hanging the lights. I NEED to move and start setting the place up this weekend! I have a friend with a van that can help me this Friday and I want to take advantage of it. I have a number of large pieces of furniture that I have to move, they won't fit in my little car.
I have been quite productive at home too- I finished 7 necklaces, a set of picnic salt & peps, a sm. lotion bottle (great for hand sanitizer) and a single salsa bowl. I guess I work well under pressure.

This past Saturday was my intended moving day, now, next Saturday is on the schedule for moving! My floor tiles never came in last week, but I checked with Lowes, and they should be in today! I have felt like I'm stuck in mud.
This morning my son's second grade class is taking one of their walking field trips, they are visiting the Library and then they will be waking over to the see the new gallery and the bakery. Not much to see in the gallery yet, but the bakery is fully stocked! We will have cookies and lemonade for them too- that is really the exciting part of the visit anyway.
I will be at the church this afternoon packing up, I think I am finally finished painting furniture- thank goodness!
I have been painting knobs all weekend- they seem to be in demand right now, I can never have enough knobs!

Good bye church, Hello garage! What was I thinking????
When you look at these photos you might ask yourself this question. Well, I was thinking I need people to come into the gallery. The church is beautiful, big and impressive. But it is off the beaten path, and no one comes in! The garage is much smaller, funky, and on Main Street (rt. 38). It is also attached to a very busy bakery- instant customers! I am sure my exposure and traffic will greatly improve, hopefully this means I will be selling MORE local art. Am I crazy? I guess a little, but as far as my business goes, I'm a little smart too!

The ceiling is up! It looks FANTASTIC! Hopefully my floor tiles will come in today, and we can knock that out by Friday! The track lighting and my Grandmother's funky chandelier will be hung too. I'm getting to the finish line, although I will be doing little things for months to come I'm sure. Shelves, picture rail, baseboard, thanks to my Dad, will be in place next week! It is SO EXCITING seeing the transformation of my little gallerage!

I have found time at night to work on an order for my friend Janice in Oregon. She likes my votive holders, and has been developing quite a collection. Here are 3 more shipping off today!

I have been missing in action the last few days! Don has gone to San Francisco and left me a single momma! I am not a fan of single parenthood- my hubs has spoiled me. Anyway, he also took my computer with him so I am forced to use the "dinosaur", aka Wilson's computer.
Work is hopefully starting today on the ceiling at the gallerage, and I am painting my tail off! I didn't realize how many pieces of furniture and display items I had that need sprucing up. This is going to be a very colorful place, I'm just hoping everything gets done in time. Wilson's class wants to take a walking field trip to the gallerage on June 15- that does not give me a lot of time!

I have finished these special orders for a couple of market customers. They will be picked up on Sunday. I love the switch plate, I think it is a great color combo! This is what I do at night, I have a few more pieces that I want to complete before Sunday. Now I'm off to the church to work on some bigger pieces. I am painting more displays and furniture.

well, not really, but, The Groton Independent had an article about me and the gallery moving. It was on the front page!
This morning I finished painting the walls- chartreuse, orange and violet- wow is it colorful! I LOVE COLOR! Now I need to work on a couple of special orders for the Farmers' Market. I will be really happy when everything is done, moved and open for biz! I am looking forward to being in my new studio and working on my own artwork.

My arms are sore from painting! I went through another gallon of primer yesterday! I would like to finish up the rest of the priming and painting this week. The electric has been started, and should be finished by the weekend. Then the ceiling will be going in- a corrugated metal ceiling, which I am REALLY excited about! There will be track lighting along the walls, and Jeffery, my electric guy is going to re-wire my grandmother's funky chandelier and hang it for me! After all that is done the black and white checked floor will be installed. I also need to get the picture rail, floor moulding and shelving done (thanks DAD and MOM). I have a heck of a lot of work to do before I am moved in and open by mid June! I am lucky to have found such fab workers to help!
