Getting it together...

I have started to put together classes for kids again. I will be offering a class on making your own floor mat. This class will be done in 3 two hour sessions, incorporating printing, painting and collage techniques. Children ages 6-12 will complete a finished 2'x3' fully functional floor mat.
I think I am going to try something new and offer this class (taught by me) as an after school activity. So I will be doing it on either a Monday or Tuesday, dates to be determined. If anyone has thoughts on this, please let me know, I am still in the planning stages- more to come! Input is always helpful!

I just found a Martha Stewart mag I saved from way back-it had an article about making floor cloths using contact shelf paper as the stencil medium. You can cut away a design, then stencil in that cut away, or stick the cutout on the canvas and use it as a negative design by painting over the stencil. I liked that idea, and plan to use it to make floor cloth hand bags. Of course-a class for kids would be super fun if they just did their own wonderful art!

Debra, I paint floor cloths and furniture- I have used this method, just make sure you really burnish your edges, paint can seep under very easily.
